Dance in Motion has a class for everyone


Disciplined training in classical ballet technique provides a foundation for the development of the dancer. Dance in Motion is known for building strong dancers with solid technique, students will learn proper body alignment, stretching and strengthening techniques, coordination and gracefulness. Because ballet provides the foundation for all styles of dance, it is not only essential for the child with interest in classical ballet training, but also for the dancer looking to improve his or her technique in all other forms for dance. Ballet as we know it today was created in France under Louis XIV. Because of its origin, the same French terminology is used in all classical ballet classes around the world, starting in our youngest classes, our instructors use and teach proper dance vocabulary.


Our hip hop classes are in excellent choice for high-energy kids who want to take a fun dance class. The class emphasize rhythm, musicality, coordination and age appropriate choreography.


Jazz has become one of the most popular dance styles in recent years, mainly due to its popularity on television shows, movies, music videos and commercials. People enjoy watching jazz dancers, as the dancing is fun and energetic. Jazz dancing is a form of dance that showcases a dancer's individual style and originality. Every jazz dancer interprets and executes moves and steps in their own way. This type of dancing is energetic and fun, consisting of unique moves, fancy footwork, big leaps and quick turns.


Acro dance is a form that includes acrobatic movements. The gymnastic technique that acrobatic dancers can incorporate into a dance routine include handstands, cartwheels, and handsprings. While acrobatics or gymnastics are not forms of dance, they can become dance techniques if the dancer adds rhythm in time to the music with true dance steps. Acrobatics adds a layer of gymnastic technical skill on top of dance skills. It is a subset of dance that many dance schools may not teach as the acrobatics require specially trained instructors and lots of room for practice. As acro dance requires a high level of fitness and agility, it can be challenging for practitioners.


Contemporary dance combines the many technical elements of classical ballet with the freedom, fluidity, and expressiveness  aspects of jazz. Contemporary is a dance style of expressive dance that combines selements of several dance genres including lyrical, modern, jazz, and classical ballet. The genre that was developed back in the mid twentieth century and has since grown to become one of the most popular dance styles today.


POM is a routine incorperating the use of Pom Pons. Every Pom Pon routine must use precise and definite movement.


Tap is a unique and exciting style of dance characterized by using the sounds of the tap shoes striking the floor as a form of percussion. The students enrolled in tap class at Dance in Motion will use methods to emphasize proper technique, rhythm, timing, musicality and precise tap sounds.
